The Gropius Passagen in the Berlin district of Gropiusstadt in the south of the Neukölln district, which was rebuilt in 1994, is the largest shopping center in the city with 85,000 m² of retail space and one of the largest in Germany.
history
As early as 1969 there was a shopping mile with 40 pavilion-style shops on the site . The first construction phase was opened in November 1996 with 35,000 m², on September 4, 1997 the second construction phase followed with 34 shops. The building was fully opened on September 2, 1999.
The passages offer space for over 150 shops, several restaurants and a multiplex cinema (since October 30, 1997). It has direct access to the Johannisthaler Chaussee underground station on the U7 line and a direct bus connection with four lines. The center offers 2100 parking spaces in three parking garages.
In November 2011, the investors of have HFS real estate funds Germany 11 from WealthCap who owns the shopping center, in a general meeting of the sale of Gropiuspassagen for 341 million euros to the mfi and TIAA agreed.
modification
The renovation of the Gropius Passagen was completed in November 2018. The entire property has been modernized and has a different appearance after the renovation. Some shops had to move out during the renovation, but many new shops have also been added.
