Gros Morne is a mountain on the island of Newfoundland ( NL , Canada ). He is the namesake for Gros Morne National Park , the largest national park on the island, and part of the Long Range Mountains , a foothill of the Appalachian Mountains .
Gros Morne is, like the national park, in the west of the island, near the small town of Rocky Harbor. With its 807 m it is the second highest mountain on the island, only the mountain The Cabox is higher. Below its northern flank is Ten Mile Pond .
The mountain can be climbed by hikers. For this purpose, partially paved paths to the mountain and down from the mountain have been set up. The path up the mountain leads over unpaved scree, is 16 km long and can be tackled within seven to eight hours.
