Group Home is a New York hip-hop duo made up of members Lil 'Dap (real James Heath) and Melachi the Nutcracker (real Jamal Felder). They became known as members of the Gang Starr Foundation , along with Gang Starr members DJ Premier & Guru , and MC's Afu Ra, Bahamadia , Big Shug and Jeru The Damaja . Lil 'Dap made his debut on Gang Starr's 1992 album Daily Operation , in the song "I'm The Man" . Both members appeared together on Gang Starr's 1994 Hard to Earn , with the songs "Speak Ya Clout" and "Words From The Nutcracker" to be heard. In 1995, Group Home released their debut album "Livin 'Proof" . The album was produced by DJ Premier. The duo released their second album "A Tear For The Ghetto" in 1999.
Lil Dap, the duo's frontman, announced that they would release a solo album in 2006 because Melachi was in prison. The album "IA-DAP" was released in 2008.
