Groveton is a city in Trinity County in the US state of Texas . In 2000 the city, which is also the county seat , had 1107 inhabitants.

Groveton is located in east Texas and according to the United States Census Bureau has a total area of 6.78 km². Of this, 6.64 km² are land and 0.14 km² are water.
Demographics
According to the 2000 census , 1,107 people lived in 444 households and in 279 families in the city. The population density was 166.7 inhabitants per km². There were 565 housing units at an average density of 85.1 housing units per km². Of the people living in Groveton, 73.1% were White, 18.2% African American, 0.2% Native American Indians and Alaskan, 0.1% Asian, 6.2% Non-American, and 2.2% with two ors more lineages. Hispanics and Latinos of all origins made up 11.4% of the population.
25.8% of Groveton residents were under 18 years old, 8.2% between 18 and 24, 24.8% between 25 and 44, 18.3% between 45 and 64 and 22.9% 65 years and older. The median age was 38.5 years (Texas: 32.3; USA: 35.3 years).
