The pit Bergmännische freedom is a former calamine -Grube of Bensberger Erzreviers in Bergisch Gladbach . The site belongs to the city ​​center district .

history

Due to a Mutungssgesuchs of 13 February 1848 was carried out ceremony of the mining area on October 19, 1848 the name Bergmännische freedom calamine. In an inspection report from August 11, 1853, a deep tunnel and a shaft “am Heidkamp” are mentioned. Here one had problems with strong water ingress. From 1856 to 1860 operations came to a standstill for the time being. Nothing is known about the other operational activities of the mine.

Location and relics

The mining field Mining Freedom stretched from the Schnabelsmühle in a straight line over the Quirlsberg in an easterly direction to Unterhombach . The main operation took place to the east of today's parking lot at the Schnabelsmühle. All traces of the earlier mining have been lost due to development measures.
