The Glücksstern mine was an iron ore mine near Waldgirmes ( Lahnau municipality ) in the Lahn-Dill district . The pit was between Waldgirmes and Bieber in a wooded area northwest of the L3286 road.
history
The mining area was on October 2, 1848 Christian Hain Bach, Philip and Jacob Gath from Altenkirchen at Weilburg on Eisenstein awarded . Several changes of ownership followed. In February 1849 the hut owner Klein from Buchenau was handed down as the owner, on October 23, 1860 Friedrich and Carl Kinzenbach from Wetzlar, in 1861 LF Buderus zur Auenschmiede, in 1867 the Hörder Verein and from November 13, 1915 the mountain assessor Petri from Gießen.
In the 54,220 square fathoms (approx. 175,000 m²) large pit field there was a store of red iron stone rubble , brown iron and manganese ores.
In 1867 there was a small amount of mining in the opencast mine, which was followed in 1872 by a shaft operation with three test shafts 10 meters deep. Until 1900 ore was mined only sporadically and between 1911 and 1915 there was a temporary operation. Despite the use of a steam engine, larger inflows of fissure water prevented further expansion of the pit
