The Wilhelmine mine (also United Wilhelmine ) was a mine in the parish of the Kirchen district of Freusburg below the castle of the same name in Rhineland-Palatinate .
history
From 1755 ore was mined. The Heinrich tunnel was laid out in 1871 . Around 1860 the mine consolidated with the Hymensgarten mine . In 1896 a shaft was built , which was driven into the depths from 1899. It had a size of 3.7 × 3.2 m and a depth of 794.9 m after it was closed , it was only partially filled. In 1905 the pit got the Christeley siding . 400 employees were employed. The shaft broke on January 22nd, 1928, and the mine was shut down. Since 1961, the Heinrichstollen has served as a drinking water supply. After the municipality of Kirchen was connected to the water supply of the Altenkirchen district, the Heinrich tunnel was no longer used and in 2011 it was finally decommissioned and the front area was filled.
