Grumfeld East

The passage grave Grumfeld East is a Neolithic passage grave with the Sprockhoff no. 896. It originated between 3500 and 2800 BC. BC as a megalithic facility of the funnel cup culture (TBK) and is hidden in the forest, southeast of Westerholte in the Fürstenau mountains, north of Ueffeln in the municipality of Ankum , in the district of Osnabrück in Lower Saxony .

Ernst Sprockhoff describes a heavily damaged west-east oriented chamber made of 13 bearing stones and 4 cap stones and some fragments that were split by blasting, of which 7 drill holes are evidence. There are old sketches according to which the passage grave of the Emsland Chamber type must have been 19 meters long, so that only about two thirds are more or less preserved. The passage grave is a form of Neolithic megalithic systems , which consists of a chamber and a structurally separated, lateral passage. This form is primarily found in Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia, as well as occasionally in France and the Netherlands.

The facility is not located on the Megalithic Street , but about 300 meters east of Grumfeld West , which is on the Megalithic Street.
