Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson

Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson (born March 28, 1977 on the Brúarland farm in the Mýrar district , today in the Borgarbyggð municipality ) is an Icelandic environmental manager and politician. He is deputy chairman of the Left-Green movement . Since November 30, 2017 he has been Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources in the Katrín Jakobsdóttir cabinet .

Life

Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson holds a B.Sc. in Biology from the University of Iceland and a Masters Degree in Environmental Management from Yale University . From 2011 to 2017 he was the managing director of the Icelandic nature conservation organization Landvernd . He has been a visiting professor at the University of Iceland, the Icelandic Agricultural College and the University Center of the Westfjords . In addition, he worked as a park ranger every summer for several years . He was a co-founder of the Icelandic Environmental Scientists Association and its president from 2007 to 2010.

In the coalition of the Left-Green Movement, the Independence Party and the Progress Party , which was formed after the early parliamentary elections in 2017 , Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson was appointed Minister for the Environment and Natural Resources, without being a member of the Icelandic parliament Althing . In October 2019, he became vice chairman of the Left-Green movement.
