GuGabriel is the artist name of the Austrian musician , singer and actress Gudrun Liemberger (* 1973 in Freistadt , Upper Austria as Gudrun Gabriele Machowetz ).

Live and act

She grew up in Weitra , where she was taught singing, guitar, violin, piano and flute. After several years of work in her mother's company and stays in England and the USA, she completed an apprenticeship as a musical actress at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , then an international theater workshop at the Berlin Wannsee Forum and a degree in film and theater acting again in Vienna .

From 1999 she was a member, guitarist and lead singer in the bands Galahad (from 1999) and The Shepherds (from 2001). From 2004 to 2009 she had success with SheSays . The band's debut album ( SheSays , 2006) reached number one in the Austrian album charts and in the same year the band received the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for best newcomer.

After SheSays broke up, she started the GuGabriel project (made up of their first names) in 2010 . In 2013 she received an Amadeus Austrian Music Award nomination in the category "Best Artist Rock / Pop". For the album Anima (l) (2011) GuGabriel received the European Border Breakers Award in January 2014 . The most successful song from it so far was Salvation , which reached number 19 in the Austrian charts. Gudrun achieved 1st place on Radio Südtirol 1 . In 2017 she received first prize at the ÖKB Songwriter Award .

As an actress, she has appeared in films such as Zum Kotzen (2003), Potio (2007), Joe (poor little matchgirl - 2008) and SOKO Donau (2009).
