Guadalupe Castañeda (born February 24, 1965 in Fresnillo , Zacatecas ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

career

society

Castañeda began his professional career in the 1986/87 season with Atlas Guadalajara , for whom he made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on August 23, 1986 in a 2-1 home win over Deportivo Toluca . His first goal in the top division he scored on March 22, 1987 to 1-0 lead at Ángeles de Puebla (final score 1: 2).

Although he played a total of 22 appearances for Atlas that season, he was loaned to the second division club CSD Jalisco for the next season and to the Camaroneros de Salina Cruz in the following season .

After signing with Club León in 1990 , he returned to the top division and quickly developed into a regular with the Esmeraldas . In 1991/92 he won his first championship title with the club from León and the first of the club in 36 years.

In the summer of 1993 he moved to the capital for the CD Cruz Azul , with which he was under contract until the end of 2000 and with which he won another championship title in the winter of 1997 .

In winter 2000/01 he moved to Deportivo Guadalajara , where he was under contract until summer 2003. After founding the Dorados de Sinaloa and their entry for the 2003/04 season in the Primera División 'A' , he was obliged by this club and was part of the team that had immediately made it through to the first division. But Castañeda was not allowed to enjoy the fruits of this success immediately, because he did not play for the Dorados in the first division in the 2004/05 season, but for Club León in the second division, which was defeated in the promotion finals .

For the 2005/06 season , the Dorados finally brought him into their first division team, in which Castañeda came to a total of 13 missions at the age of 40 and 41 respectively. His last game over the full distance of 90 minutes he completed on February 5, 2006 at Santos Laguna and scored the equalizer for the Dorados to the final score of 1: 1. His last appearance was on March 4, 2006 in the away game with the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz (1: 1).

National team

Castañeda made his debut for the Mexican national team on March 14, 1991 in a 3-0 win over Canada, where he was used over the full 90 minutes. His other six international appearances, three of them over the full 90 minutes, he completed between September and December 1993.
