The Gudgenby River is a small river in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) (Capital Territory of Australia ), whose run of the for the most part through the woods Namadgi National Park leads. Its catchment area contains ecologically important alpine wetlands .

The river has its source in the Booth Range at the southern tip of the Australian Capital Territory, flows north and flows into the Murrumbidgee River at Tharwa .

The Gudgenby River was also examined for its suitability as a supplier of drinking water for the Australian capital Canberra and the surrounding territory. Alternatively, it was proposed to build two reservoirs at Mount Tennant , a smaller one with a water content of 43 million m³ or a larger one with a water content of 159 million m³. The latter would more than double the water storage capacity in the ACT.
