The Gudrun Maersk class , shipping company internally Mærsk D class of Maersk Line is a container ship class . The ships of the type were the largest container ships in the world when they were commissioned.
history
After the six post-Panamax container ships of the Mærsk A-class with almost 9,000 TEU , which were built by the Odense shipyard for Maersk Line in 2003-2004 , the shipyard delivered six from June 2005 to spring 2006 under construction numbers 197-202 further container ships of the Gudrun Mærsk class, however, lengthened by 15.0 meters to now 367.28 meters, to the Maersk Line.
With parking spaces of over 9500 TEU and 115,700 dwt, it was the largest container ships in the world until September 2006. The shipping company officially states that the number of containers is 7500 TEU (loaded with 14 t each). The unofficial number of parking spaces differs between 9500 TEU and 9930 TEU. The containers can be stowed below deck in nine layers and 15 rows next to each other, on deck in up to eight layers in 17 rows next to each other.
The deckhouse has been raised by another deck compared to the Mærsk A-Class and with 11 decks it is now the highest on a container ship.
The ships are powered by a Sulzer AG 12 RTflex-96C diesel engine built by HSD / Doosan with 68,640 kW / 93,400 hp at 100 rpm. This will give you a service speed of 25 knots. The crew consists of 15 men.
The ships operate in Maersk's AE-1 and AE-2 liner services on the Northern Europe - Far East route and in Germany only serve Bremerhaven (North Sea Terminal) and Hamburg (Eurogate).
As of September 2006, the ships of the Gudrun Mærsk class were surpassed as the world's largest container ships by the ships of the Emma Mærsk class , which were also built in Odense .
