Gudrun Piller

Gudrun Piller (* 1968 in Basel ) is a Swiss historian .

Career

Gudrun Piller studied history and German at the University of Basel from 1988 to 1995 . From 1997 to 2001 she was assistant and research assistant to Kaspar von Greyerz at the history department of the University of Basel. In 2003 she received her doctorate from the University of Basel. phil with the dissertation «Private bodies. Experiences, discourses and practices on the body in German-speaking Swiss self-reports of the 18th century ».

From 2001 to 2017 she was Head of the Exhibition & Education Department and, since 2004, has also been Vice Director at the Basel Historical Museum . In autumn 2015, after Marie-Paule Jungblut left, she was appointed interim director of the museum (until the end of May 2017). She has been the museum's curator since 2017. She also regularly teaches “History in the Museum” at the Department of History at the University of Basel.
