Guido Bolten

Guido Bolten (born December 22, 1961 in Duisburg ) is a German journalist . At ProSiebenSat.1 Media, he was managing director of the television stations kabel eins (2006 to 2008) and Sat.1 (2009 to February 2010). He has been Head of Programs at Discovery Germany since July 2019.

Career

Guido Bolten began his career in 1986 after studying journalism in Cologne as head of sport at Radio Gong in Nuremberg. After stints at SWF 3 and as deputy editor-in-chief of the state-wide private broadcaster Antenne Bayern, for which he worked as a sports editor from 1988 to 1992, Bolten switched to television in 1991. At Tele 5 and ProSieben he worked as a commentator and moderator . In 1993 he took over the editor-in-chief of DSF in Munich. There he also moderated the program "Studio". In 1996 he moved to Plaza Media, where he was editor-in-chief in charge of various productions. From 1997 to 2000, Guido Bolten was responsible for information & magazines at kabel eins. In January 2000 he became editor-in-chief and took over the management of the Information & Magazine division at ProSieben. From January 2006 to December 31, 2008 he was managing director of the television station kabel eins . Following his activity there, Bolten took over the management of the television broadcaster Sat.1 , which also belongs to ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG.

Under his leadership, Sat.1 was reformed, series such as “ Lenßen & Partner ” were discontinued, the new claim “Color your life” was established and employees such as Oliver Pocher or Johannes B. Kerner were hired. However, these fell short of the audience ratings that were hoped for . On February 1, 2010, Bolten ended his management activities.
