Guido Pellizzari

Guido Pellizzari (born October 30, 1858 in Florence , † June 3, 1938 ibid) was an Italian chemist.

Pellizzari studied at the Istituto di Studi Superiori in Florence (later the University of Florence ), received his doctorate there in 1882 and was then assistant for general chemistry. In Florence he was a student of Hugo Schiff . In 1889 he became professor of general chemistry at the University of Catania , in 1891 professor at the University of Genoa and in 1916 professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at the Istituto di Studi Superiori in Florence, which he remained until his retirement in 1933.

He dealt with organic chemistry, especially organic nitrogen compounds such as guanidine and triazoles .

The Pellizzari reaction (1894) for the triazole synthesis is named after him.

He was a member of the Accademia dei Lincei .
