Guido Reger

Guido Reger (born March 5, 1958 - † July 26, 2009 ) was a German economist .

Life

Guido Reger studied business administration and economics at the University of Hamburg from 1983 to 1989 . From 1991 to 1998 he was a scientific project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research in Karlsruhe . During this time he worked on his dissertation on the subject of coordination and strategic management of international innovation processes with which he in 1997 at the St. Gallen University for Dr.oec. received his doctorate .

In 1998 he went to the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences as a professor of business administration and innovation management . In 2004 Reger took on an endowed professorship for innovative start-ups and medium-sized companies at the University of Potsdam . Reger declined calls to the Newcastle University Business School and the Technical University of Berlin in order to take over the Potsdam Chair for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences in May 2008 .

Reger's work focus included innovation research and business start-ups. He was a member of the board of directors of the Brandenburg Institute for Business Start-ups and SME Promotion (BIEM) and, together with Dieter Wagner, headed the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEIP) at Potsdam University.

Research and teaching stays took Guido Reger to the USA, Japan and China as well as various European countries. In October 2008, Peking University honored him with the appointment of Honory Research Professor .

Reger was married and the father of four children. He died unexpectedly in the summer of 2009 as a result of a minor heart attack . His grave is on the south-west cemetery in Stahnsdorf .
