Guido Till (born February 23, 1955 in Haan ) is a German local politician (1990–2009 SPD , 2009–2013 non-party, since October 2013 CDU ). He has been Lord Mayor of Göppingen since 2005 .

Life

Till joined the SPD on February 17, 1990 . In 2004 he prevailed in the mayor elections in Göppingen against the incumbent Reinhard Frank in the first ballot with 50.7 percent and took office as Göppingen Lord Mayor the following year. On October 5, 2009, Till left the SPD. He justified his resignation from the party by saying that the SPD had moved too far to the left. For the mayoral election in 2012, the independent Till was supported by the CDU, FDP and the Citizens' Alliance of Göppingen (BAG). On October 14, 2012, Till was confirmed for a second term as Lord Mayor by 61.85 percent of the voters. On October 17, 2013, he joined the CDU after having been supported by the CDU for years. Since the 2014 local elections, he has also been a member of the district council for the CDU.
