Guido Vildoso Calderón

Guido Vildoso Calderón (born April 5, 1937 in La Paz ) is a Bolivian general who was the 70th President of the Republic of Bolivia from July 21, 1982 to October 10, 1982 .

He graduated from the military college and became a lecturer at the same. His further specialization took place in the USA , Panama and Brazil . He then made a career in the Bolivian army. During the military dictatorship of Hugo Banzer Suárez , he was Minister for Health and Social Welfare.

His predecessor in office was dictator Celso Torrelio Villa . After his resignation he was appointed head of state by a body of the armed forces. During his three-month term in office, General Vildoso restored democracy in Bolivia after years of military dictatorship . He was thus the last de facto ruler of the Republic of Bolivia. His democratically elected successor was Hernán Siles Zuazo .

Today (as of 2013) he lives as a privateer in Cochabamba . On March 19, 2013 he and the other living ex-presidents of Bolivia were invited by Evo Morales to discuss a joint strategy for regaining sovereign access to the sea. However, he subsequently did not take an active role.
