Guido of Cyprus
Guido of Cyprus or Guido of Lusignan († 1302/1303) was Lord of Beirut in 1291 , and from 1292 constable of the Kingdom of Cyprus .
He was a younger son of Hugo III. , King of Cyprus and (as Hugo I) King of Jerusalem, and Isabella of Ibelin .
In 1291 he married Eschiva von Ibelin , mistress of Beirut, widow of Humfried von Montfort († 1284), who was previously engaged to Guido's brother Amalrich von Tire . By virtue of their right , he became lord of Beirut, but the city was conquered by the Mamluks on July 31 of the same year .
His older brother, King Henry II of Cyprus appointed him constable of Cyprus in 1292 , an office previously held by his maternal grandfather.
After his death he was succeeded by his brother Amalrich as constable of Cyprus.
With Eschiva he had two children:
- Hugo IV (* 1294; † October 10, 1359), 1318–1324 titular constable of Jerusalem, from 1324 king of Cyprus and titular king of Jerusalem;
- Isabella († after 1340) ∞ around 1322 Odo (Eudes) of Dampierre-sur-Salon († after 1330), 1324 constable of Jerusalem, son of Walter von Dampierre and Eschiva von Ibelin, mistress of St. Nicholas.
