Guillaume Barthez de Marmorières

Guillaume Barthez de Marmorières (born March 2, 1707 in Narbonne , † January 11, 1799 ibid) was a French engineer and encyclopedist .

Life

His parents were Joseph Barthez († 1741) and Madeleine Jean, both had been married to each other since February 10, 1697. His father worked as an architect on the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Saint-Pons in Saint-Pons-de-Thomières , Cathédrale Saint-Pons de Saint-Pons-de-Thomières .

Barthez de Marmorières worked as an engineer for bridges and roads, ingénieur des ponts et chaussées in the province of Languedoc . He was a member of the Académie de Montpellier . He married Marie Rey († 1758), the marriage was concluded on February 28, 1734 in Montpellier . They had five sons Paul Joseph , Antoine (1736-1811), Jacques (1741-1813), Pierre (1747-1811) and Guillaume (1755-1817).

Together with his son Paul Joseph Barthez, he worked on the Encyclopédie by Denis Diderot and Jean Baptiste le Rond d'Alembert . He wrote on agricultural subjects, including herds of animals and troupeaux .
