Guillaume Gagnier
Guillaume Gagnier (born December 9, 1890 in Montreal ; † August 22, 1962 there ) was a Canadian horn player and double bass player.
Gagnier had first lessons from his father Joseph Gagnier and then studied horn with Charles Tanguy . In the 1920s he took double bass lessons with Léon Wathieu of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra .
He became first horn player in the Canadian Grenadier Guards Band in 1913 and was first horn player in the CSM (later the Montreal Symphony Orchestra ) from 1935 to 1950 . He was also a member of the Gagnier Woodwind Quintet from 1942 to 1945 . He has worked as a double bass player with various theater orchestras in Montreal and has appeared in numerous radio and television concerts by the CBC .
