Guillermo Giacomazzi (born November 21, 1977 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player who was mainly used in midfield . Furthermore, Giacomazzi played in the Uruguayan national team .
Career
In the club
The 1.87 meter tall Giacomazzi began his career at Bella Vista . There he made his debut in the Primera División at the age of 17 . In the Clausura 1998, 25 first division appearances and six hits are given. In the Apertura 1999 he is said to have played 28 games in which he scored four times. In January 2000, Giacomazzi moved from Bella Vista to Club Atlético Peñarol . There he was in the first division squad Peñarols until 2001 . For the Aurinegros he completed 18 games in the Apertura 2000, in the Apertura 2001 16 games in the league. Numbers for the respective Clausuras are currently not available with certainty. In 2001 he signed a contract with the Italian club US Lecce . He made his debut on August 26, 2001 in Serie A in a 1-1 draw with Parma. He then played regularly for Lecce for six years before finally being named captain. In January 2007, however, he was loaned to US Palermo . On February 10, 2007 he played his first game for his new employer against FC Empoli . The following season he was loaned to this FC Empoli before returning to US Lecce for the 2008/09 season. In the seasons from 2008/09 to 2012/13 he completed a total of 161 league games for the club, in which he scored 18 goals. This also includes the four promotion play-off games of the Lega Pro Prima Divisione in the 2012/13 season.
According to the player, Giacomazzi's contract with Lecce ran until mid-2014. At the beginning of August 2013, the players and club mutually agreed to terminate the contract. On August 8, 2013, Giacomazzi's engagement at AC Siena became known. A few days later, he played his first competitive game in the cup game against AC Pisa . Up until his last appearance for the club on May 31, 2014, he had played 38 games (four goals) in Serie B and four games (one goal) in Coppa Italia . In the 2014/15 season he was part of the AC Perugia squad . During that season he made 25 appearances (one goal) in Serie B and one (no goal) completed play-off game. After the end of the season, he ended his career.
In the national team
In the Uruguayan U-23 team, he played six international matches (no goal) at the "Torneo Preolímpico" in Brazil in 2000. Giacomazzi made his debut on June 3, 2000 under coach Daniel Alberto Passarella in the World Cup qualifier against Chile in the Uruguayan senior team, when he came on in the 89th minute for Álvaro Recoba . Until his last appearance on June 2, 2007, Giacomazzi completed a total of 17 international matches for his home country, in which he did not score a goal. (As of August 22, 2013)

Giacomazzi's niece, Nohelia Giacomazzi, acts as a referee in Uruguayan women's football.
