The Guimaras Strait lies in the middle of the Visayas Islands , which form the central part of the Philippines , and connects the Visayas Sea in the northeast with the Gulf of Panay and the Sulu Sea in the southwest.

This strait separates the islands of Panay with the province of Iloilo in the north and Negros in the east. The eponymous island of Guimaras lies in the middle of the water. At the exit to the Visayas Lake is the island of Pan de Azucar , on which the 606  m high Mount Manaphaga rises. The 11 km² Taklong Island National Marine Reserve is located at the southwest entrance to Guimaras Strait . The largest river that flows into Guimaras Strait is the Jalaur .
