Guity Novin (born April 21, 1944 in Kermanshah , Iran ; born Navran ) is a Canadian painter and sculptor . She currently lives and works in Vancouver and Toronto .

Life

In 1970, Guity Novin graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts at Farabi University in Tehran . Her pictures were exhibited in the "Salon d'Autumn" in Paris. In 1974 she moved to The Hague in Holland to study at the "Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten". Her pictures were exhibited in the Noordeinde Gallery. In 1976 she moved to Manchester , England , where her pictures were exhibited in the Didsbury Library in 1978 . In 1979 she was selected by a jury for the ECA exhibition at the National Theater in London .

In 1980 she emigrated to Canada. She lived in Kingston , Ontario from 1979 to 1983 , from 1983 to 1984 in Montreal and from 1984 to 1996 in Ottawa . Eventually she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia . Her paintings have been exhibited in Kingston at the Brock Street Gallery , in Montréal at the Sherbrooks Gallery , in Ottawa at the Artex and Trillium Galleries, in Toronto at the Christopher Hughes Gallery and in Vancouver at the Guthenham Gallery . In 2001 she exhibited at Le Carnaval de La licorne . She is a member of the National Committee of Artists of UNESCO .

Guity Novin worked as a graphic designer, in the 1960s and 1970s she designed covers in Iran for magazines such as Negin and Zaman as well as for publications by the Free Cinema of Iran . She also created the posters for the First International Film Festival in Tehran. In Ottawa, her drawings were published in the quarterly feminist magazine Breaking the Silence in the 1980s .
