Gulfija Raifowna Khanafejewa

Gulfija Raifowna Chanafejewa ( Russian Гульфия Раифовна Ханафеева , English transcription Gulfiya Khanafeyeva ; born June 4, 1982 ) is a Russian hammer thrower .

In 2003 she won silver at the Universiade in Daegu. On June 12, 2006, she set a world record at the Russian Championships in Tula with 77.26 meters, which was broken shortly afterwards by Tatiana Lysenko . At the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg she won silver.

A week before the start of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, for which she had qualified, she was temporarily banned by the IAAF for violating the anti- doping guidelines . On the basis of DNA analyzes, she and six other Russian athletes were accused of having fraudulently given urine to other people during doping tests . She was banned for two years and nine months until April 2011, and all of her results after May 9, 2007 were retrospectively canceled, including her tenth place finish at the 2007 World Athletics Championships in Osaka.

In 2012 she was eliminated from qualifying at the Olympic Games in London . The following year, she was twelfth at the 2013 World Cup in Moscow.

Based on the McLaren report , Chanafejewa was retrospectively banned by the International Court of Justice in 2019 for doping . The ban lasts eight years starting January 6, 2017. In addition, all results between July 15, 2012 and August 6, 2014 were canceled.
