Guliston ( Uzbek in the earlier Cyrillic spelling Гулистон; Russian Гулистан Gulistan ; until 1961 Mirzachoʻl ) is a city in Uzbekistan with 67,846 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2009) and the capital of the Sirdaryo province .

The city is located about 110 km southwest of Tashkent, at the southeastern end of the Golodnaja steppe (Uzbek: Mirzacho'l) and only gained economic importance with the use of artificial irrigation for cotton cultivation .

On the basis of the Strategy of Action Plan, which provides for nationwide investments in education, energy and infrastructure from 2017 to 2021, numerous new residential and business premises as well as a new park in the city center were built.
