The Gungarlin River is a river in the Australian state of New South Wales .

course

It has its source in Kosciuszko National Park and flows south into the Snowy River . In summer it is popular as a good trout water and because of the cycling and hiking trails on its banks.

The Snowy Mountains system branches off from the lower reaches of the Gungarlin River at the Gungarlin Weir Water and directs it to the Island Bend Pondage . The Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed mentions that not so much water should be diverted at the weir in order to increase the amount of water in the Snowy River again. The course of the river below the weir does not currently have any base water.

There are many mountain huts along or near the Gungarlin River, for example the Daveys Hut , the Botherum Plain Hut , the Buhlmans Hut , the Mrs. Caseys Hut and the Kellys Hut .
