Gunnar Malmquist

Karl Gunnar Malmquist (born February 21, 1893 in Ystad , † June 27, 1982 ) was a Swedish astronomer .

Malmquist studied under Carl Charlier at the Old Observatory of Lund University . From 1939 to 1959 he was professor of astronomy at Uppsala University . The asteroid Malmquista is named after him.
