from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gunnar Wöbke (* 1967 ) is a German manager and basketball official .

Life

After graduating from high school, Wöbke studied and obtained his doctorate in nutritional science (nutritional and household sciences) at the University of Bonn in 1997 .

He was a basketball player in the 1st team at TV Tatami Rhöndorf . After his active career, he switched to the management of the team. Since the framework conditions for "basketball as an event" were not in place in Rhöndorf, various relocation options were discussed. After receiving a rejection from the operators of the Cologne-Arena (today: Lanxess-Arena), Wöbke organized the move of the first division team to Frankfurt am Main , where he found the support of the sports director of the city of Frankfurt, Sylvia Schenk . To this end, he founded a GmbH with another partner, which then started in the first basketball league under Skyliners Frankfurt in the 1999/2000 season . Since then he has been a managing partner there. The main club and a second-class professional team remained in Rhöndorf.

Since then, his Fraport Skyliners team has been playing in the basketball league without interruption and has won a championship (2004), a cup (2000) and the Europe Cup (2016).

Gunnar Wöbke is married and has a daughter (born 2006).
