Gunship (computer game)

Gunship is a flight simulation by Arnold Hendrick and Andy Hollis, which was published in 1986 for the Commodore 64 , Atari ST and DOS . The game won the Origins Award for Computer Games for Best Graphics.

There were further ports for ZX Spectrum (1987), Amstrad CPC (1987), Amiga (1988), and MSX2 (1989).

As a helicopter pilot of an AH-64 Apache , the player has to prove his flying skills in four different scenarios ( Vietnam , Nicaragua , Middle East and World War III in Europe ).

Gunship was the most complex simulation available on the computer systems of the time.

Gunship 2000

In 1991 the successor Gunship 2000 appeared for the PC ( MS-DOS ), in 1993 the conversion for the "Classic" - Amiga , one year later a graphically revamped version for Amiga 1200 and CD³² . Compared to its predecessor, it was possible to fly different helicopters in the course of the game and to command several helicopters with increasing rank. The Gunship 2000 Islands & Ice Expansion Pack , which contained additional maps and two new areas of application (Antarctica and the Philippines), was only released for the PC version.

Gunship!

1999 appeared with Gunship! the last part of the series to date, which used a newer graphics engine and, among other things, contained the Eurocopter Tiger in addition to the AH-64 Apache .
