Gunter Geiger

Gunter Geiger (born December 7, 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) is director of the Bonifatiushaus in Fulda , the building for further education in the Diocese of Fulda . He is chairman of the Working Group on Catholic Social Educational Institutions (AKSB) and is involved in various boards of continuing education, including the board of the Catholic Adult Education Hessen and the Association for Continuing Education Hessen eV He has also been a member of the assembly of the Catholic Church since 2019 Sent by the Hessian State Authority for Private Broadcasting and New Media .

Career

Geiger was born in Frankfurt in 1967. After graduating from high school in 1988 at the Lucius boarding school in Echzell , he joined the armed forces and trained as a troop service officer. From 1991 he studied economics and political science at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg. In 1993 he spent a semester abroad at Arizona State University (USA) and graduated in 1994 with a degree in economics. He then came to Strausberg near Berlin as a transport train driver officer, where he worked as a youth officer from 1995 onwards.

In 1998 he became a consultant for political education at the Catholic Academy Bonifatiushaus in Fulda. In addition to this activity, he developed new course types, e.g. B. Seminars with the Stiftsschule St. Johann Amöneburg, dispute settlement courses and academy evenings. Since 2001 Geiger has been deputy house manager and provisional administrative manager for the Bonifatiushaus. In 2004 he was appointed director and head of the Bonifatiushaus.

He has been working on various committees and boards of umbrella organizations and interest groups in adult education since 2001. He has made numerous contributions a. a. on human rights , media, children and education.

Geiger is married and has two children. He is a lieutenant colonel in the reserve.
