from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Working Group for Catholic-Social Educational Institutions in the Federal Republic of Germany (AKSB) is a national professional association for political adult and youth education , to which around 60 Catholic academies , educational institutions, clubs and associations belong. It was founded in 1952 in order to make a contribution of Catholic educational institutions to the consolidation of democracy in Germany.

history

The basis of the educational work in the AKSB is the " Beutelsbach Consensus " agreed between the institutions of political education in 1976 , which prohibits any form of massive political influence, recognizes and promotes the diversity of political opinions, and stimulates and encourages political action.

In 1998, the educational institutions united in the AKSB agreed on the “Convention on Catholic-Socially Oriented Political Youth and Adult Education in the AKSB” as a guiding principle. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the convention, the AKSB reviewed fundamental aspects of the convention in 2008 in a discourse within the various AKSB committees as well as with the related sciences of Catholic-socially oriented political education in order to further develop its self-image. The AKSB general meeting on November 24th, 2009 in Fulda accepted the result of this process in the form of the "Updating Supplements" as a contemporary and future-oriented working basis.

The current chairman is Gunter Geiger , director of the Bonifatiushaus in Fulda.
