Gunter Runkel

Gunter Runkel (born August 14, 1946 in Lahnstein ; † August 17, 2020 ) was a German sociologist and sexologist . He was a professor at the University of Lüneburg and there director of the Institute for Future and Innovation Research. In his works he combined the system, action and evolution theory.

Life

From 1968 to 1974 Runkel studied at the universities of Mainz , Marburg and Hamburg . In 1974 he received his doctorate in Hamburg, in the same year he began teaching at the University of Lüneburg. In 2002 he completed his habilitation there.

Gunter Runkel was President of the German Society for Social Science Sex Research from 2002 to 2006 . He was on the board of the International Academy of Science (H&E), member of the “Sociological Theory” section of the German Society for Sociology and the Science Council for “Sexual Sociology” at the University of Shanghai . Runkel was visiting professor of sociological theory, sexual sociology and family sociology at Central Connecticut State University (USA). His focus was on general sociology and sexual sociology.

Gunter Runkel was also involved in the Alternative for Germany (AfD), was chairman of the Lüneburg city association until 2018 and ran unsuccessfully in the 2017 federal election at number 25 on the state list of AfD Lower Saxony . From November 1, 2016 to January 30, 2020, he was a member of the council of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg and from May 13, 2019 to March 9, 2020, he was a member of the district council of the Lüneburg district .
