Gunter Zimmermeyer

Gunter Zimmermeyer (* 1944 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German association official and lobbyist .

Life

Zimmermeyer studied physics at the University of Cologne and received his doctorate in 1974 on low temperature / solid state physics (the mutual influence of magnetic and non-magnetic additional atoms on the transition temperature of superconducting lead layers) .

In 1976 he became a consultant for environmental protection in the General Association of German Hard Coal Mining (GVSt). In the discussion about forest dieback, Zimmermeyer represented the interests of the General Association of German Hard Coal. In 1990, as a member of the management board, he was responsible for environmental protection, questions of acceptance and new technologies.

In 1983 he was given a teaching position for environmental protection at the University of Applied Sciences for Mining in Bochum .

Zimmermeyer has been a member of the Presidium of the German Traffic Guard since 1992 and is now Vice President of this organization.

From 1992 to 2003 he was managing director of the Verband der Automobilindustrie eV (VDA) and managing director of the Research Association for Automobile Technology (FAT) and chairman of the advisory board of the DIN technical standards committee for motor vehicles (FAKRA). He represented the VDA in committees of the German Road Safety Council and the German Traffic Guard.

On April 1, 2003, he moved to Robert Bosch GmbH , where he took over the Berlin-Brussels liaison office as head of the central department for foreign affairs, government and political relations.

From 2007 until its dissolution in 2017, he was chairman of the EUGT .
