Gunther Arzt (born October 4, 1936 in Tübingen ) is a German legal scholar .

Life

Doctor studied law at the University of Tübingen from 1955 and passed the first state examination in 1959 and the second in 1963 . In 1962 he received his doctorate there . In 1965 he obtained an LL.M. from the University of Berkeley . After completing his habilitation with Jürgen Baumann at the University of Tübingen in 1969, he was appointed to a full professorship at the University of Göttingen in 1970 . In 1975 he became a full professor at the University of Erlangen . In 1981 the University of Bern appointed him full professor for criminal law , criminal procedure law and criminal law auxiliary sciences. In 1982/83 he was Dean of the Faculty of Law. In 2001 he retired.
