Gunther Schroff

Gunther Schroff (born December 12, 1939 in Ittersbach ( Baden-Württemberg ); † July 21, 1999 ) was a German entrepreneur. In his home in the southern district of Karlsruhe, he built today's Schroff GmbH.

Life

Development of Schroff GmbH

With Schroff GmbH, founded in 1962, Gunther Schroff created a leading international manufacturer of electronics housings, plug-in units and control cabinets. In 30 years of development, Schroff GmbH has grown into a strong, medium-sized company with over 1200 employees with worldwide sales and production facilities in France, England, the USA and Japan. In order to secure further growth, the Schroff family decided in 1989 to open up new perspectives for the company by integrating it into the Hoesch Group.

ROTRONIC and SECOMP

With Rotronic , which was taken over in 1990, and the newly founded trading house for computer technology and accessories SECOMP, Gunther Schroff and his wife Ingrid Schroff created a new, successfully operating group in the 1990s. He was torn out of this creative period by death at the age of 59. His entrepreneurial legacy is continued today through his wife Ingrid and his children Susanne and Christian Schroff in the tradition he created.

SECOMP

SECOMP GmbH was founded in 1988 by Gunther Schroff together with a partner. Secomp trades in IT products in the areas of network technology and computer hardware for professional end customers. With around 80 employees, a turnover of around 30 million was achieved in 2011. In addition to the shop in Ettlingen, the distribution channels are catalog and online mail order.

social commitment

In addition to their entrepreneurial activities, Gunther Schroff and his wife Ingrid Schroff were also interested in social issues. In 1984, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of your group of companies, the Schroff Foundations were brought into being. It was, and still is, her declared goal to use her entrepreneurial success for socially important issues. The Foundation for Social Purposes is committed to the promotion and support of education and upbringing, in art and culture, but also in the field of environmental, landscape and monument protection. The foundation is particularly active in Trivandrum, South India.

Scientific commitment

Gunther Schroff has continued to campaign very strongly for technology transfer, on the one hand he was involved in the establishment and development of the research center for computer science (FZI, division manager: Klaus Bender) as an affiliated institute of the University of Karlsruhe and on the other hand he created a foundation for scientific purposes, especially with the aim of promoting innovative teaching areas through endowed professorships.
