The Schroff GmbH is a German manufacturer of cabinets, equipment enclosures, racks and associated components for electronic equipment manufacturing, the telecommunications , data centers or traffic engineering . The company, headquartered in Straubenhardt, belongs to the Irish group nVent. The Schroff GmbH is one of the largest companies in the region of Karlsruhe , Pforzheim / Enzkreis .
history
Gunther Schroff began building electronically regulated power supplies in 1962 and founded Schroff GmbH. Then he recognized the need for assembly systems for electronics and manufactured slide-in systems, housings and cabinets. In the mid-1960s, Schroff developed the europac subrack system for Euro cards, the outstanding feature of which is the 19 inch division. The acceptance in the electronics markets of the USA and Japan made the system the quasi-standard for electronic assembly systems. By participating in the international standardization committees for electrical engineering such as B. the IEC, the company with the Schroff brand paved the way for 19-inch dimensions and thus also for the standard dimensions of the height unit (HE) and pitch unit (TE) .
Since 1994 the company has operated as Pentair Technical Solutions GmbH under the US conglomerate Pentair (based in Ireland since 2014), which offers products, services and solutions in the areas of water treatment, heat management and protection of equipment. Pentair employs around 30,000 people worldwide and had 2013 sales of approximately US $ 5.2 billion.
In 2017 it became known that the Pentair group wants to separate from the electronics division (Hoffmann, Schroff, McLean). From 2018, the Schroff brand will therefore belong to the newly founded company nVent Electric.
On May 1, 2018, the change from Pentair to nVent was completed. The company now appears again as Schroff GmbH in the nVent group.

Pentair Technical Solutions GmbH continues to be one of the most important producers in the housing market. With its switch cabinets, housings and subracks, the company is a supplier u. a. for manufacturers of telecommunications , automation technology , measurement and control technology , data and network technology , defense technology and aviation , rail and traffic technology , medical technology and energy technology . A customer-specific production (housing openings, printing) complements the series products and makes the company also interesting for smaller equipment manufacturers.

Since the late 1960s, Pentair Technical Solutions GmbH has been investing in training and further education and offers seminars for the further development of teamwork , presentation technology and product knowledge. Around 45 trainees are currently employed at Schroff GmbH.
