The the Aravalli Range belonging Guru Shikhar is with its height of 1722  meters the highest mountain in the Indian state of Rajasthan .

location

The summit of Guru Shikhar is located approx. 15 km (driving distance) northeast of the approx. 1150 m high city of Mount Abu ; from Achalgarh it is only about 10 km. The slopes of the mountain are forested in places or made up of bushes, whereas the summit is formed by a bare rock plateau.

Dattatreya temple

Almost all mountains and peaks in India are considered the seat of gods in Hinduism . On the Guru Shikhar is for centuries one of the three-member syncretic deity Dattatreya sacred Hindu temples , but this was changing. In Dattatreya aspects of the three high gods Brahma , Shiva and Vishnu are united . A shrine is also dedicated to Ahilya, the mother of Dattatreya.
