Gus Anton

Gustav "Gus" Anton (born March 16, 1938 in Remscheid ) is a German conductor , composer , arranger and music publisher from the Bergisches Land .

Anton completed piano and conducting studies at the Cologne University of Music and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Lovro von Matačić and Herbert von Karajan and was then assistant to Thomas Ungar in Remscheid . From 1974 to 2006 he acted as director of the theater and as cultural representative of the city of Gummersbach . Anton founded the Chamber Choir Remscheid / Gus Anton Choir in 1961 and, in addition to other choirs in the Bergisches Land, also directs the Symphony Orchestra of the Oberbergischer Kreis.

Anton is known in German-speaking countries for his arrangements of numerous well-known songs and arias for choirs, most of which he markets in his own music publisher.
