The Gussinojesee ( Russian Гусиное озеро ; Buryat Галуута нуур , Galuuta nuur , " goose lake") is a 164.7 square kilometer and up to 28 meters deep freshwater lake in Buryatia , Russia , about 120 km from Ulan-Ude near the Mongolian border .
The city of Gussinoosjorsk lies on its northeastern bank , and at the opposite southwestern end is a Buddhist monastery, the Tamtschinski-Dazan, founded in 1741 .
