Gustaf Magnus Elgenstierna (born August 26, 1871 in Klovsten near Vingåker in Södermanland , † March 21, 1948 in Lidingö near Stockholm ) was a Swedish postal worker and genealogist .

Gustaf Elgenstierna was a son of Carl Elgenstierna and Evelyn Petersohn. In 1908 he married Clara Sandberg, daughter of the postmaster Gustav Sandberg and Ida Stjerncreutz. The two daughters Ulrika Sofia (* 1909) and Clara Marianne (* 1918) emerged from the marriage.

Life

In 1891 Elgenstierna began studying, in 1902 he became a postal expedition at the Swedish Post Office , and in 1915 he became the first postal expedition. From 1919 to 1937 he was inspector of the General Postal Administration.

In Stockholm Elgenstierna was 1906-1911 book auction commissioner. From 1924 he was a member of the board of the Swedish Aristocracy Association ( Svenska adelsförbundet ), as well as the Society for Danish-Norwegian Genealogy and Personal History ( Samfundet for dansk Genealogi og Personalhistorie ). In 1928 he joined the Society for Family Research in Finland.

Elgenstierna was one of Sweden's most renowned genealogists and editor of numerous genealogical and biographical publications. One of his most important series was Den introducerade svenska adelns ättartavlor , a 9-volume series on genealogies of the Swedish nobility, comparable to the Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility in Germany.
