Gustav Disse

Gustav Disse (born September 28, 1933 in Wattenscheid ) is a marathon runner from Bochum who won the German marathon championships in 1956, 1957 and 1959 .

Life

Gustav Disse started for the Dahlhausen sports club . At the German Championships in Berlin in 1956 , he won the marathon title two and a half minutes ahead of Fritz Schöning from Essen . Gustav Disse won the team competition together with Reinhold Hundt and August Ruttloh. 1957 in Düsseldorf Disse won again with a two-minute lead over Fritz Schöning. In the team competition, TUSEM Essen and Fritz Schöning won ahead of Dahlhausen with Disse as well as Walter and August Ruttloh. In 1959 in Delmenhorst , Disse won the individual standings ahead of Jürgen Wedeking from TSR Olympia Wilhelmshaven , while the Wilhelmshaven team won the team standings before Dahlhausen with Disse, Ruttloh and Ruttloh. At the German Championships in 1961 Disse took second place behind Roland Watschke over 10,000 meters , in 1962 he was second again, this time behind Peter Kubicki .

From 1956 to 1962 Disse made 15 appearances in the national jersey. His best times were 14: 07.4 minutes over 5000 meters, 29: 24.4 minutes over 10,000 meters and 2:24:51 hours in the marathon. On September 22nd, 1962, he set a German hourly record in Witten with 19,441 meters.

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich , Disse was a member of the jury for street competitions. Gustav Disse was on the board of the Athletics Association Westphalia eV until 2010 and is still an honorary member there.
