Gustav Gäbel

Gustav Emil Gäbel (born April 28, 1849 in Eschdorf ; † September 18, 1912 in Klessig ) was a landowner and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Gäbel attended elementary school in Eschdorf and later the Freemason Institute in Dresden . After completing school he learned agriculture in his father's economy and from the age of 18 he took up a position as an agricultural official on manors. From 1869 to 1872 he was a soldier in the Royal Saxon Train Battalion No. 12 in Dresden. He took part in the war against France in 1870/71 and in the autumn of 1872 he was released as a non-commissioned officer in the reserve. Since 1874 he was the owner of his farm in Klessig. He was also the first chairman of the main beekeeping association in the Kingdom of Saxony and an extraordinary member of the state culture council for patriotic beekeeping. He was also a local judge for the municipality of Klessig since 1877, a long-time member of the municipality council, the church and school board. He was also a member of the district assembly of the Royal Office of Meißen .

From 1898 to 1903 and from 1907 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency Kingdom of Saxony 7 Meißen , Grossenhain , Riesa and the German Social Reform Party .
