Gustav Cool

Gustav Kühl (born September 9, 1869 in Lübeck , † October 20, 1906 in Berlin ) was a German librarian and writer.

Life

Gustav Kühl was the son of a teacher in Lübeck. He attended the Katharineum in Lübeck until he graduated from high school in Easter 1888 and then studied first Protestant theology , then German and art history at the University of Kiel . In 1899 he was charged with a thesis on Bordesholmer Marienklage Dr. phil. PhD. He lived in the USA for several years and wrote a. a. an early account of ragtime in Die Musik . On his return he became a librarian and, in 1906, assistant director at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin .

Gustav Kühl was one of three close friends of Wilhelm Schäfer , whose death he dealt with in 1909 in his autobiographical story Die Missgeschickten .
