Gustav Klemm (geologist)

Carl Albert Gustav Klemm (born July 8, 1858 in Dresden , † August 6, 1938 in Darmstadt ) was a German geologist.

Gustav Klemm was born in Dresden in 1858. He studied from 1878 to 1882 at the University of Dresden. There he was also promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. In 1884 he completed his habilitation at the TH Darmstadt ( glacier tracks in the Spessart and eastern Odenwald ). Then he was a private lecturer at the TH Darmstadt.

Until 1891 he was a geologist in Dresden. With effect from March 1, 1892, he became the second state geologist in the Grand Duchy of Hesse. Klemm worked at the Grand Ducal Hessian State Geological Office in Darmstadt. In 1910 he was named a mountain ridge. In 1922 he became director of the Hessian State Geological Institute. In 1924 he was retired with the rank of Oberbergrat.

He also worked as a painter and artisan.

Among other things, he dealt with the geology of the Spessart and Odenwald .

In 1932 he became an honorary member of the Upper Rhine Geological Association (OGV) .
