Gustav Möllenberg

Gustav Ernst Walter Möllenberg (born January 1, 1886 in Haspe ; † December 16, 1970 in Essen ) was a German ironworker and manager of the German steel and mechanical engineering industry.

Life

After graduating from high school in Hagen , Gustav Möllenberg studied metallurgy at RWTH Aachen University . In 1906 he became a member of the Montania, academic association of chemists, miners and smelters , which later became Corps Montania. After completing his studies, he became a production engineer at the Hoesch iron and steel works in Dortmund. During the First World War he took part in the front as a lieutenant in the reserve. After another position as chief engineer at the Bochumer Verein in Bochum, he became general director and board member of Dürkopp Werke AG in Bielefeld. At the end of the 1920s he was appointed smelter and chairman of the board of Westfalia-Dinnendahl-Gröppel AG in Bochum and Essen. He held the position until the 1950s.

Möllenberg was a member of various business associations and supervisory boards. After the Second World War he was a member of the supervisory board of the Rhein-Ruhr-Bank . From 1949 to 1959 he was President of the Association of German Mechanical Engineering Institutions

In 1934 Gustav Möllenberg became chairman of the AHV association of the Corps Montania Aachen, which he headed during the Nazi ban and in the first post-war years. Only with the re-admission of the Academic College as a successor to the Corps Montania by the British military government did he give up the chairmanship at the turn of the year 1947/1948.
