Gustav Roller (born February 19, 1895 in Pforzheim , † October 20, 1959 ) was a German football player .

Roller, known in his hometown as "Roller-Stäfle", began playing soccer at Herta Pforzheim in 1906 and moved to VfR Pforzheim in 1915 , for which he worked from 1916 to 1919 in the southern district of the South German Football Association , then up to 1920 played in the district league Baden . He then worked for city rivals 1. FC Pforzheim , which was one of the strongest clubs in southern Germany at the time, until 1933 . At the end of his premier season he won the district championship southwest and took part for the first time in the finals for the southern German championship ; so also in 1922/23 . At the end of the 1925/26 season , he and his team had to go into the relegation round as the bottom of the table , in which the class could not be kept. After a three-year absence he returned with the team for the 1929/30 season back to the Württemberg / Baden district league, Württemberg group.

National team

Roller played his only international match for the senior national team on September 21, 1924 in Budapest in the 1: 4 defeat against the national team of Hungary . In this country comparison, his team only played ten from the 35th minute; despite this defeat, it was called the "tower in battle". Two more times he was a substitute for the DFB squad.
