South German football championship 1915/16

The South German soccer championship 1916/17 of the South German Soccer Association won the Stuttgarter Kickers with three points ahead of the SpVgg Fürth in the association finals. This was the third and last win of the southern German soccer championship for the Stuttgart. However , they were not allowed to take part in the German football championship , as it was not held due to the First World War .

Mode and overview

As in previous years, district champions were determined in four regional districts, who played off the southern German football champions in a final round in a round- robin tournament.

North circle

In the northern circle, the winner was played in a round-robin tournament with three participants. The three participating teams qualified for this district finals through regional leagues, the table status of which is only partially recorded. In the Gau Südmain there is an autumn and a spring round, both won by FSV Frankfurt .

East circle

In the eastern district, the winner was played in a knockout system with four participants. The four participating teams qualified for this district finals through regional leagues. In the Gau Middle Franconia , an autumn round has been handed down, which SpVgg Fürth won. In the Gau Oberbayern Group 1 , the FA Bayern in the Munich SC is handed down as the winner. The semi-finals were played on January 21, 1917 and January 28, 1917. The two finals took place on February 25, 1917 and March 4, 1917.

In the southern district, the winner was played in a knockout system with three participants who qualified for the district finals through regional leagues. In the Schwaben district , the Stuttgarter Kickers prevailed in the final against FC Union Stuttgart in three games. The Gau Alsace was won by the Strasbourg FV .

Western district

In the western district, the winner was played in a round-robin tournament with three participants. The three participating teams qualified for this district final through regional leagues. Phoenix Mannheim is handed down as the winner of the Mannheim district .
