Gustav Schmalfuss

Gustav Friedrich Rudolf Schmalfuss (born June 24, 1856 in Hanover , † April 15, 1921 in Hamburg ) was a German gynecologist .

Life

Gustav Schmalfuss studied medicine at the universities of Jena, Halle and Freiburg im Breisgau. In Jena he became a member of the Corps Thuringia in 1877 . In 1881 he received his license to practice medicine. In 1883 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. From 1881 to 1886 he worked as an assistant to Alfred Hegar , Max Schede and Heinrich Curschmann . At the end of 1886 he settled in Hamburg as a general practitioner and gynecologist. He published and lectured mainly on topics related to gynecology.

His son was the chemist Hans Schmalfuß .

Awards

Gustav Schmalfuss was appointed to the secret medical council.
